Luminosity

Two types of files must be provided to the n-tupliser when processing data:

  • the lumi masks (a.k.a. golden JSON files) are used to filter certified runs,
  • the pileup normalisation files are used to determine the pileup profile corresponding to the selected data.

These files should be provided to the n-tupliser in the luminosity block, e.g.:

PU profile

Before blindly using the files provided here, one should check the current recommendations TWiki. For Run 2, the so-called pileup_latest.txt files can be found at /afs/cern.ch/cms/CAF/CMSCOMM/COMM_DQM/certification/Collisions1?/13TeV/PileUp/UltraLegacy/pileup_latest*.txt. For Run 3, the equivalent files are called pileup_JSON.txt and can be found at /eos/user/c/cmsdqm/www/CAF/certification/Collisions2?/PileUp. It is also possible to recalculate them with brilcalc with following the instruction on the aforementioned TWiki.

Uncertainties

The Run 2 calibration has been taken from the reference TWiki and adapted to a custom format in the present directory.
